The first step to change how we are perceived and change our direction is to have the ability to determine who wins elections. The first step necessary to influence elections is to form a team of people who can find political races that are reasonably competitive, know the rules of elections, find and place our candidate on the ballot, raise the money necessary to achieve the objective, and to engage in and conclude the actions needed. What is needed is a Political Campaign Management Team (PCMT) or maybe several.

Candidates cannot be expected to invent the wheel. That's the job of the PCMT. The more the candidates want to learn and help, so much the better. The PCMT could and should handle all matters for them. A corporation has been formed, Porcupine Management, INC, to act as the framework for the PCMT. What is needed is a team of people to join and form this organization.

The talents needed for Porcupine Management, INC our PCMT are:

1. People with knowledge or can acquire knowledge of election and corporation rules.

2. People with accounting ability to be treasurers.

3. People who can raise money.

4. People who can put together and maintain Web sites.

5. People who can recruit the necessary personnel.

6. People who can cause the printing and distribution of pamphlets (mail advertisements).

7. People who can keep us updated on the newest trends or technology.

8. People with writing talent.

9. People with aptitude in the fields of political strategy and tactic.

10. People who can oversee, organize, and coordinate.

We need a team of people who can employ the libertarian principles of the division of labor to do the tasks necessary. I suggest we employ libertarian market principles of payment for services rendered: As independent contractors. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity without the guillotine

If you are offended by unusual ideas, of pushing the envelope, or of taking a lemon and trying to make lemonade, please read no more and perhaps we can remain friends. However --- Step One can work. We can determine who will win the elections in many cases. Success is neither automatic nor guaranteed. Failure is assured from lack of necessary action. As of now, there is little harassment of the LP and its candidates. I believe that the reason for this lack of interest by the government is our lack of success. That is the good news. Now, the bad news.

1. It is not easy to get people to part with their money even when you can show the results are something they wish to have happen.

2. With success, attention will come from the government. Many people believe that we have “free and open” elections. On the contrary, the government has criminalized the political process, that is to say, the government has made elections subject to rules, regulations, orders, and controls and if you do not know or do not obey them the government will steal your money and/or put you in jail.

I believe we are faced with “greater odds than a more generous God would have allowed.” The Democrat and Republican politicians have stacked the deck against us and they well change the rules when it suits their interest. We must be bold. We must use our abilities, assets, and resources in innovating ways. We must think outside the box. We must use all the tools in the toolbox. We need to use all the tools in the toolbox. I am going to suggest something that may bring me criticism, disapproval, ridicule, mockery, censure, scorn, and even laughter.

To the best of my knowledge, there has never been a libertarian fraternity. And, I believe many libertarians would shun such an organization. Many libertarians are suspicious of groups that hold high or lofty goals. To those of you who hold such opinions, I wish you well, and I ask you to read no further.

I suggest we organize a fraternity. Fraternity, as I use the term here, is a group of men and women held together by common interest for fellowship and to achieve a common goal. The fraternity I propose would be a group of people who are interested in implementing libertarianism. The members of this fraternity would be paid professionals. Maybe, not as much as they are worth but as much as can be reasonably arranged. This fraternity would encourage its membership with respect and knowledge: With respect by and giving its membership credit, recognition, thanks, acclaim, acknowledgment, glory, and tribute for their accomplishments: With knowledge by the exchange of ideas and fellowship and by reminding ourselves of our noble endeavor – this enterprise is more than work --.

I would name this fraternity: Knights of Liberty. By Knights, I mean a group of people engaged in a noble and honorable enterprise. By liberty I mean libertarianism. I believe we should engage the spirit of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity but we understand what the French did not and that is it must be voluntary. So, there will be no need for the guillotine. We should embrace the spirit of equity as a reminder that we are not better than anyone else, nor do we seek to be. What we seek is to make ourselves better people than we were yesterday and better tomorrow than we are today.

To achieve our goals we should use the division of labor and its sister: specialization. Knights work together. Knight would have at least one specialization and could have more than one or even all. Each specialization would be a group of Knights with skills and abilities to accomplish those tasks. These groups would be called an “order” and each order would be named.

Knights of Liberty

Knights of the Order of the Protector of the Realm: These Knights are special, indeed. First, they must all be fluent in that strange language which libertarians have real difficulty understanding. I speak of bureaucratese: The language of the low life, the bully, and theft. These Knights must shield us with knowledge of the rules, regulations, orders, and controls of the bureaucrats, but just as important, they must with their knowledge knife our way clear to achieving our goals. They must know campaign law and whatever other knowledge we may need. If we have lawyers in this order, that would be all the better but not necessary: the knowledge needed is specialized enough that an intelligent layperson can master the subject and if we work together, we can protect our people and achieve our goals. These Knights must preserve hospitable relations with bureaucrats while maintaining their honor: a dangerous tightrope. They must relay their knowledge to the other Knights and must keep themselves and their fellow Knights updated.

Knights of the Order of the Guardian of the Treasury: These brave knights are the backbone of the cause and must be prepared for attack by the bureaucrats. The shield they use must be honesty and knowledge. They must be honest: if they are not, they are more dangerous and can cause more harm to our cause than the bureaucrats. They must appear to be honest: if they do not give the appearance of honesty, they can damage our credibility. They must know the rules: the best safeguard against the bureaucrat.

Knights of the Order of the Holy Grail: These Knights are on a quest for the ultimate but elusive key to our success and as such they will receive the largest compensation. They must find and find methods to find those who want what we can give them – election results to their liking – and receive from them the charity we must have. Our Knights must learn gentle persuasion and effective detection. Our Knights must also find the rich to join our cause and win elections.

Knights of the Order of the Institution of the Web: These knights are of the WWW. Add to our ability to commutate with voters and ourselves and can make us look “cool” at a minimum price.

Knights of the Order of the Recruiter: These Knights are the finders of the people we need. We cannot get anywhere with out people. These Knights must find candidates in the appropriate places, other Knights, and whatever is needed. These Knights might find work for our Knights outside of the realm when they are not employed in the kingdom. These Knights must work with the Knights of the Holy Grail to recruit the rich.

Knights of the Order of the Disturber: These Knights must know the rules of the bureaucrats of the post office, the ways of the printer, have the ability to get and use voter lists, and must place in the hands of the appropriate voters appealing and persuasive material.

Knights of the Order of the Institute of changing Technology, R&D: These Knights can get us on the cutting edge of what is going on and what will be going on. We need every advantage we can get just to stay in the game.

Knights of the Order of the Quill as Mighty as the Sword: These Knights shall cut their way with words to communicate to the people and other Knights They must understand their audience whatever they may be and speak to their concerns with clarity and panache.

Knights of the Order of the Strategist and Tactician: These Knights must adept, adjust, amend, modify, invent, and discover what we need to do and how we need to do it. Victory is in their court.

Knights of the Order of the Organizational and Coordinator: These Knights are the facilitators and catalyst responsible to encourage and insure that whatever is needed get started, maintained, and completed as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
