Abortion

Abortion, in my opinion, is not a good form of birth control. The question is what should we do?
Should we turn to politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC?
Before we go to politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC, I ask that we remember the words of George Washington:
"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence: It is force..."
Do we wish to use force to compel a woman against her will to endure sickness, the significant alteration of her body, pain which men can only guess at, and the real possibility of a painful death? Some woman must endure these hardships, in many cases without any guarantee she can maintain her ability to support herself.
You may say that every one of us is here because a woman went through this process. God bless them every one! The difference is choice: if a woman wants to have a child or thinks it is her duty, she makes the human race possible. The difference between rape and love is consent. If you would use force, do you not take from her - her free will and in so doing do you not act as a tyrant?
You may say that either her condition is the results of her actions or her ignorance. Nevertheless, we remain with the fact that either a woman should be allowed to control her own body or she is a slave. I ask that we consider the words of Ayn Rand:
“Any alleged ‘right’ of one man which necessitates the violation of rights of another is not, and cannot be, a right."
Suppose a law is passed. How is the government to enforce it? In a just country there is the right to a trial by jury: Consider the words of Lysander Spooner:
"The authority to judge what are the powers of government, and what the liberties of the people, must necessarily be vested in one or the other of the parties themselves -- the government, or the people; because there is no third party to whom it can be entrusted. If the authority be vested in the government, the government is absolute, and the people have no liberties except such as the government sees fit to indulge them with. If, on the other hand, that authority be vested in the people, then the people have all liberties (as against the government,) except such as substantially the whole people (through a jury) choose to disclaim; and the government can exercise no power except such as substantially the whole people (through a jury) consent that it may exercise."
Where in our country are there more than 91.66% of the adult people who would take away the liberty of a woman (or those who would help her) to control her body? If one person on a jury votes to acquit {that is 8.34%} the law cannot be enforced. The only way to enforce such a law would be to destroy the principles (trial by jury) that may preserve our liberty.
If we would have control of our own body, should we not remember the words of Carl Schurz?
“If you want to be free, there is but one way; it is to guarantee an equally full measure of liberty to all your neighbors. There is no other.”
Before we turn to politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC, I suggest that we remember the words of Ludwig von Mises:
"A free man must be able to endure it when his fellow men act and live otherwise than he considers proper. He must free himself from the habit, just as soon as something does not please him, of calling for the police."
I believe that abortion is a terrible form of birth control, but I also believe that the burden falls on those who oppose abortion to take voluntary actions to find ways to reduce the occurrence of abortion and to find scientific ways to overcome this problem.
One step I believe should be taken is to remove the interference of the politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC with voluntary exchanges between consenting adults such as voluntary and responsible baby buying, paying women to have babies, or other voluntary means.
I recommend the words of Frederic Bastiat:
"The solution to the problems of human relationships is to be found in liberty."
Let us think our way out of this problem and not turn to politicians and bureaucrats in Washington DC!!!
